AR Drone 300x210You can now get an iPhone RC helicopter to carry around with you. Remote or radio controlled boats, cars, trucks, and helicopters have come a long way since they were invented.  No bulky equipment, no wires, and it would be great to say no hands but you’ll need them to use your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to fly your helicopter.

Technology has not bypassed RC helicopter

Even though iPads are usually used for game playing and other applications, using it to entertain yourself and others with your RC helicopter will be more than worth it.  This technology is the latest for RC hobbyists. It comes with an application you can download and install. You, of course, need a helicopter (included) and a little time to get to know the functions of the app.  You’ll be able to tilt, turn, and swerve your helicopter any which way you want – all on your iPhone or iPad.

If you have a few minutes during working hours you can easily learn this application. You can even use it in your office if your boss doesn’t catch you. If you’re the boss use it to check up on the hard workers.  If you have the AR Drone then you’ll be able to use the dual cameras to check up on anything or anybody.  Your iPad or iPhone will fly your RC helicopter through the Wi-Fi connection.

Everything you need for RC helicopter flying

You can find it at the Apple app store with a price tag of $299.  It comes complete with helicopter, dongle, and application for your flying pleasure.  It can fly in all directions and is one of the coolest toys ever!

Using your touch pad on the iPhone or iPad you can fly your RC helicopter all over the place.   It gives you about 15 minutes of flying time per battery charge.  It takes about an hour to charge the battery so you’ll have time to do some work in between flying time.  It also has touch controls in the app through the dongle for adjusting your altitude and steering.  You can easily spy on anyone you want or take a dive at the cat.

There are two limitations with this most entertaining toy; it is limited in range by your Wi-Fi connection and it’s a little lightweight for heavy winds.  If you do happen to lose contact with your Wi-Fi then it will hover until you walk back in range or it runs out of battery power.  The dongle lets you have full tilt steering control working in tandem with the on screen power buttons.

This new RC helicopter application for your iPhone or iPad will let you pre-record up to three flight plans so you can check up on the baby if you wanted to with a click of the button.  It also has a USB charger so there’s nothing extra to carry around.

You can’t find a better toy helicopter that has the power to entertain you for hours.  It came out in September and you can find it at the Apple store.  Can technology get any better with RC helicopters?   I don’t think so…try it out.

PS.  If you don’t want a real helicopter to fly around they do have several virtual helicopter applications at Apple’s iTunes.
